I posted about this in another thread, but let's try here:

I used to own a beautiful Candy Red RG. It had red headstock, black hardware, Floyd, no pickguard, and factory installed EMG ACTIVE pickups with a seperate 9V battery compartment on the back. The REALLY odd thing is that I swear (but could be wrong) it said RG570 on the headstock, but the pickup configuration had a humbucker in the bridge and two single coils, (HSS). Normally, on a 570, it's H-S-H, and NOT EMG's.

I sold it for a song, but hope to get it back from my Pal someday soon. Tell me......"What the heck is this model?" When & where were they made, how many were made, what did they sell for new (I found it in a pawn shop), and is it anything collectable that I should hide under the bed if I get it back?

Thanks, DHC

DHC, I have found in 1992 catalogue a RG560CA which has the 2 single coil IBZ S1 pickups & IBZ V2 humbucker at the bridge with black hardware no pickguard etc.
I think you will find that the EMG's are a refit not from the factory.
In the same catalogue, there is a RG760 model with the same pickup config. as the RG560,but it's fitted with IBZ/USA series pickups which were made by Dimarzio. The hardware is Cosmo Black or black chrome.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM,

Well, the guitar's like 739 miles away from me right now, so I can't get the serial number. I build custom guitars & do restorations. I would think I'd be able to tell if it had been modded. It had a seperate 9V battery compartment in the back of the guitar, and all the paint matched & looked undisturbed as far as wiring goes. ALSO, the two single coil EMG's were just an oval shaped pickup (didn't have the base that extends out of the bridge side like a traditional Strat single coil). The guitar was routed to match that, so a normal single coil pickup would not even fit in the guitar! Now I'm really baffled!

I might just have to buy it back from my old pal, just so I can figure this out. This is gonna drive me nuts, like when you can't remember someone's name & it haunts you until you wake up in the middle of the night bursting their name out.

If you think of any other possibilities, let me know.

Thanks, DHC
