But ...deep down, what really gets your back up as far as factory policy's go ? Now I am quite clear on the fact that last week I threatend to go hunting with my KrytptonPlasma rifle...( a privilage that only Captain Ibanez has..just to remind you all ), but serious folks..is there some contact info you need no matter where you are to save you countless hours on the net?...The Captains confessional is open........................Please note the Captain is of no religion inparticular and noone needs to prove any different...LMAO :)

Trying to send an email with details to this site to properly register...keeps coming back undeliverable!!!
Oh yeah...spare parts..................and the fact the Ibanez guitars I fell in love with so long ago are no longer a well kept secret and consequently harder to come by bargains (thank God for ebay.de!!).
oh yeah.......The utter lack of historical info on the Fuji Gen Gakki factory and all the other "brands" they exported in the late 60's early 70's.
The guy that runs the private ibanez museum (listed in google) did a huge retro Ibanez exhibition at his local university last summer and got some support from Ibanez (the high hegions were apparently quite stunned and unaware of the cult status vintage Ibanez products enjoy he tells me). Consequently he had some difficulty in getting very much historical info from them!!!

Chips:

Are you saying that you can't get an email thru to me at ICW? If there's a problem, let me know. I'll figure out some way to get to you.

What's this about the "private ibanez museum"? Can't find anything about it on google.

Ok, Six and Chipsotoole. One thing we have to understand here guy's is that like any consumer goods in the market place today, a manufacturer is only required to carry spare parts for there products for 5-7years.

So, what we have here is a situation where our beloved Ibanez is a oustanding innovator when it comes to guitar designs. Now it's ok if you have been churning out the same models for the last 50 years ( I wonder who that could be ? hehe )ans the only new thing that happens each year is that you have a colour change ! . Fair go here guy's I know it can be frustrating not be able to still get these old parts for your restorations, but could you imagine the size of the warehouse you would need to store all the parts, of all the models, that Ibanez have produced in the last 40 years for the world market! If someone only had the hindsight back in the late 70's to stock up for future generations. Sadly this was not the case. The spares for the "law suites" finished in 1980, but strangley enough the Original Gibraltor bridge parts where discontinued in 2000 hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

HAR AVAST AGAIN CAP'N!
Point taken on the inherent problems with supplying spare parts...but what about simpler things like pickups......
The Super 70 and the 58 are pretty much recognised as the best Humbuckers Ibanez EVER produced. given their desirability (look at ebay for example)...It wouldn't hurt to have a small department manufacture reissues of them....to my knowledge both the super 80's and the V1/V2 humbuckers didn't prove nearly as popular.....I'm all for companies committed to innovation and development but surely a company the size of Ibanez must realise the HUGE amount of their quality guitars out there that might remain broken or in a state of disrepair for the lack of a spring, grommit, trem handle, wiring diagram etc....surely it is for these customers that Custom shops should also exist....look at the success Fender have enjoyed with their 57/62 or custom 54 reissue pickups.....Har har Cap'n! Can you get this black spot to the Ibanez MD....and break out the rum... me's ranting! :)

Well in all fairness, they probably never dreamed that we would be tapping away on a dedicated website 30 years later raving on about how terrific their guitars were/are/(will be).

It's a little typical Japanese though. They don't make spares for anything. Six months after you buy a new video or tape player, the thing is obsolete so you gotta buy a new one.

BUY BRITISH!!

Holy Cow! As you guys over the pond would say. That guy sure has some parts. Perhaps we should all chip in and fight over the bits we want :)

$1900 would buy me a couple of nice Ibanez guitars.

Thanks Jeff

There's a store here in KL that has piles of old Ibvanez spares hanging around. I guess they used to be the distributor back up to the early 80's. I've picked up a pair of Super 70's in gold as spares for my Moderne, shipped min humbuckers to the USA for a few guys there, a mate got a coupld of Jazzmaster copy pickguard assemblies (still in their wax paper wrappers). Every so often they dump another armfull into the cabinet where they pile them up.

Guess we're just lucky here :)

SteveK, know what your saying, just ask Spiro about my Junkie Box, there are times when I can look at this pile of shit and say hey, there must be someone out there that could use this stuff and from time to time I can save the day for that aging old Ibanez...just ask Lt.Commander Roadster...I managed to dig up a NOS Short Stop tailpiece for one in his collection that was worse for wear. Now I know that all the eager beaver's out ther would love to know the entire contents of my junkie box, but Mr Shanley could not afford my overtime charges for trying to catalogue all this stuff, so when I can help...I will :)
