Hello,
I recently bought a roland Guitar synth controller for the GR 303 system. The same one used by pat metheny. I heard that these rolands were actually made by Ibanez. The 808 is like a neck through musicain with an artist shape and the 505 is a strat copy. Does anyone know if these were made by ibanez? I can post some picture later tonight.
cheers
jesse

Yes They were...

They were made by Fuji Gen Gakki...

You will also notice that they use ibanez sure grip knobs on them as well...

Same Serial number sysem as Ibanez as well...

Thanks for your input Spiro, I've had a hard time installing my Broadband internet connection, but I'm glad to say the Captian can now travel the net at a minimum of Warp 10... Engage !.....:)

I can tell you from my own experiences, being a HUGE fan of Metheny I have owned many of the Roland GR models over the years. The GR808 is the fancy neckthru gold hardware model while the GR303 is the one Metheny uses (it's basically a setneck version with chrome hardware, looks a bit like a Ibanez Musician if I take my glasses off ;-))) ).

I thought Les Pauls were heavy 'till I played one of the GR808s standing up. The GR202 and GR505 are strat types (the 202 has humbuckers the 505 single coils).

The cheaper GR303 is really hard to find, since everyone wants to look "just like" Metheny those don't show up too often. YOU DO see them on eBay from time to time but they always get about 2 to 3 times as much money as the GR808.

I swear Metheny could make a plastic toy guitar sound like Heaven... As much as I revere Metheny and love the sound he gets from the GRs I found I did not like the instrument very much. I've given more of them away to kids in my church than I care to admit.
