hey guys
im looking at buying an ar300 (2004) thicker than the ar250 with block inlays and super58's. anyone own or played one of these guys?? if so what do you think??
the ar300 seems like a good deal for a new guitar - approx $1000, however does the ar300 have the same super58 pickups as the ones in the ar3000? i have played both through a devillle (different shops) and the ar3000 sounded much hotter, captain do you know why??? maybe the 5 * price tag made it sound better:) oh and the gold plating, bling bling!!
also if i was to buy the ar300, id probably look at getting that right angle neck joint sanded down to smooth it out, are there any issues with doing this - ie weaking the neck, or is the neck joint attached to the body the same as the prestige neck?? (prestige alot smoother)

also ive been trying to find a black artist (any model) to buy, anyone know of one for sale in australia?? would love to get my hands on an ar300bk with dimarzio p'ups from the early 90's, and i dont even know if they were imported to australia?

Bluepill, the Super 58's in this years model ( AR300HS ) are Korean pickups, AR3000 has Japanese Super 58's...tonal difference...I'll let your ears decide. The neck is slightly different...let your hand decide. Gold plating is not the key factor here, only pure love and appreciation for Japan made Supers as apposed to Korean made Supers is the difference, but let me say, AR300's from Korea still kick ass! and if you are looking for a black model, don't forget a AR200BI out of Korea as well (black ice ) a matt finish black model that rocks just as hard. Try not to be to judgemental with playing one through a Deville, there is much more to life than a Fender amp as a bench mark. I suggest trying it through a Peavey Classic 30 or a Mesa Boogie, or Vox AC30....let your ears to your style make you part with your hard earned cashish!

hey captain
thanks for the info on the super 58's! i only used a deville as reference because both shops stocked them. at home i use a 74 music man and a laney lc30 with an etone ext cab for gigging, but i can defiantly tell the difference in the pickups. yep im a huge fan of the japanese artist and own 2 from the eighties, however i needed a replacable guitar to gig with, and the newes are a fair bit lighter which is cool, (for my back :)

i am not a huge fan of the heel on the ar300, but as i bought one on the weekend now ill have to look at smoothing it out a bit. do you know of any luthiers in melbourne that would do a good job?? im not too concerned of the cosmetic effects, just the playability.

as for the ar200bi, i really dont understand why ibanez would market this artist reissues as a "classic" guitar, and put a graphite like finish on it, ive played one and it reminds me of playing air guitar on a tennis racket :) ok this is just my opinion, but if the 200 was a standard black i would have bought one.
