Hi-
I tried to post this before, but it didn't seem to go through (?), so sorry if it somehow shows up twice.

I was wondering if the Captain (or anyone else) has any idea what kind of wood was used for the fretboards of the AR100 in 1981. I checked the catalog, but couldn't find anything on it. Checking the other catalogs, I found that the '78 2618 (the AR100's predecessor?) has an ebony fretboard but the "83 AR100 sports a rosewood one. Any ideas?

Thanks! :)

I'm pretty sure they were rosewood. The AR300s and up were ebony.

Robert, with the 2618 model, that was part of the Premium line of Artists at that time. However, the AR100 of 81/82 did have a rosewood fingerboard, sometime refered to as a Ebonized Rosewood fingerboard which is basically a very dark staind rosewood to give the appearence of Ebony. This was done to help reduse manufacturing costs and leave space for more top end models as Eric says AR300 etc that used Ebony on the fretboard.

That totally clears it up. Thanks!
