Hey Captain, you may remember a few months ago I visited you at work to find parts for my 2345W (SG white custom) and 2387DX ('67 V). You may also remember that the Rocket Roll had been refinished in spaycan enamel black (oh the humanity). Well, this sin against nature has been corrected, my V is back to her former glory cherry stain.
Before:
black
During
during
After:
v front
v back
Now for the best part, you'll never believe how I did it. Sand it back to wood and refinish it? No way!!! I started off using a Dunlop Tortex green plectrum to scrape off the crappy black paint which luckily for me flaked off relatively easily once I got started. This however took a while, so I found the plastic scraper which came with my freezer to defrost it. I also added to my arsenal of tools a plastic putty knife and a couple of thick plastic desert spoons. Only a minimal amount of sanding was required on the edges, and then I used auto cut and polish paste to bring the shine back. I think I heard it sigh when the black all came off.

Cheers
Pete

}CONGRATS ON A JOB WELL DONE PETE !

Holy thats a big difference to the guitar you first bought in here.

You were so lucky to only need your Stew Mac Jnr Tupperware Guitar Luthier Kit, to get the finish off !

Well Done once again Pete !
