In a recent message the Captain laid down the following challenge: "I ask all of you to step up to the mark and name your top 10 Ibanez guitars of all time...don't matter how passionate you are with any particular model....go for it !"

OK, who wants to go first?

I love my AR-500. I look at it as the poor man's AR-5000.

Great question.

I've owned about 50-60 Ibanez guitars over the past years, mostly the Artist series, and I have observed that every single one of them has been different from each other - no 2 AR300s , AR500s or 100 series were the same. To me that's the fun of collecting these guitars. It seems each has a life of it's own.

Although different the models do share a lot of ommonalities, aside from the obvious shapes and hardware. Tonaly the 500s ,300s and 100s are quite different (but all are really nice).

TOPS

AR 300 AV w/58s. I love the sound and ebony neck. All around awesome guitar!

AR-500 with Super 58's (swapped out the Flying fingers). Much better match with that guitar - better midrange and a reduced peak in the highs.

AR105 - Burled top - great neck.
AR100 Cherry sunburst full blown tigerstriped with push pots. I got it from a guy who had bought it in the 80s. Parked it under his bed for 20 odd years. It was brand new!

Sold it to a guy in Georgia when I needed cash. I hate having to sell my guitars!

AM-205 - just needs a bit of tweeking to be the perfect semi-hollow.

I've go a roadstar - One with the flat top and binding. Awesome guitars! Only the neck joint is not as tight on these - leading to tuning issues. Easily remedied with a very small shim. These are really underappreciated guitars. I highly recomend them as a strat alternative.

CONCORD Acoustic - Black with neck split block inlay that I've not seen on any other.

7-Bob Weir Tree of Life
8-the doubleneck on the home page

...as you can see I'm not well versed in the model names yet,but I know what I like!
