Info on the S3040, please.

Anything interesting about it in your professional opinion? The seller (2nd owner) was told the following: "It is a 1997 NAMM show guitar. As far as I can tell there were only 12 of these guitars made." Any truth to the above or just someone blowing smoke? Any idea on the production numbers for these? Thanks, JohnS ICW Jim_Donahue (Jim_Donahue) Posted on Friday, August 20, 2004 - 11:08 pm:    I love that guitar, I had the upper end version in my office at Hoshino and played it every day, They made more than 12 for sure, I know we had at least 12 at Hoshino, This was not the most expensive model so probably between 36 to 48 were made, But these guitars did well in Japan so maybe a few more but not that many more. I know of another with the serial number F9734181. If only 36 or 48 were made (some sources say in batches of 12 or 24), how can there be a difference of nearly 10,000 in the numbers? Jim_donahue Username: Jim_donahue Registered: 04-2004 Posted on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 11:15 pm:    First yes I did have the 5400 bow that I think about it, Serial numbers start and keep going, they are printed on a big sheet of paper (water decals) they are used in basic order, The way we would figure it is if Fuji made say 5000 guitars a month say in 1998 with the ibanez serial number January production would be CE F9800001 to CE F9805000, Feb would be CE F9805001 to CE F9810000. And so on. It is not so accurate but it was the best we could do. So if the same model was made three months apart even though they only made 3 of them the serial number spread would be the same as all other production. Jim
