Hi Jim,
I just picked up an EMG equipped '90 430S-II that appears in this thread:

The '90 catalog lists a 430S, which has 3 S1 passive single coils. There is no "S-II" version listed.I've read reviews of 430 & 440S-IIs that had EMG pickups. To your knowledge, was this original equipment? Or perhaps a factory option?
Also, this guitar is very light. My S1520 shares the same dimensions and thickness at the edges, but weighs a lot more. The 430 is also quite a bit more resonant and lively when played acoustically. Is this due to the hardware, or is it a difference in the mahogany wood? If so, are most of the older Sabres made of this lighter wood?

Yes the 430S came stock with the S1 pickups, There is a story about these, Fuji was told that a new paint could be sprayed and would not need to be sanded and buffed, So the S430 and S440 was made.
They used the static paint system on these to keep the price down, However when they came to the USA we rejected 100% of them and we resanded and buffed all of them out.
This model did not last long.
The bridge on this was the HQ Jr. or High Quality's little brother, (The not as high Quality bridge)
