I recently acquired a '79 ST300 with an EQ, but when I flip the switch the guitar puts out no sound. With the EQ off or the battery out and switch off I get sound and the pickup switches work, but no volume controls and of course no EQ. I've tried 3 different 9V batteries and all the wiring is in good shape and connected. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Bill, the EQ board, or to be more precise, the electrolytic condensers in the EQ have "gone dry", Im afraid.. That is perhaps most obvious cause of malfunction.. Here somewhere in some thread there was lots of discussion about "re-capping" those boards, I have done a couple such operations myself..
Hope youll get it fixed!

If you need, I have an extra 3-band EQ board with 3 NOS EQ pots & knobs. I will only sell everything as a complete set.

Belair,

Do you mean this one?
Ebay Item #270097386272

So these advanced electronics can give some troubles.
I've become an admirer of the STUDIO series last year, when I first bought a Jarock ST105 imitation and later I bought the ST50.
I was thinking about these higher STUDIO types, but now I read about these complications, I'm glad I've got passive electronics.

But I'd like to know a little more about these EQs.

Are these ELCOs difficult to get, or just standard stuff, Fox?
