My newMC940DS Fretless

Wanted to share my new fortune and also get some advice... Very familiar with this bass, I'm a HUGE Police fan, except I don't know what all the controls do. Have seen the Ibanez catalog from 1980 and know what controls there are, just not sure which ones they are. Know the volume knob, that one's easy. Think I know that the switch to the right is boost/cut. The other switch is equalizer. What do each of the 3 positions do? Then there are the knobs. With volume are tone and what else? And the black 3 bottom knobs, I'm sure are to adjust the equalizer, but not sure what I am adjusting... Any help would be appreciated. Also, the guy I bought it from strung it with Rotosound Nylon Flatwounds. Any of the other guys with the fretless have any advice on strings? Will regular strings like, DR Nickle Plated ruin my fretboard? I think that's it for now, also included some pics... I am like a proud new papa....I'm beaming!!
