Does anyone have an opinion on what strings, ie Round wound or Half round, I should use on my SR1205FL fretless? I'm not sure I want to go the Flat wound rout.
There's Round wounds on it now but I notice some wear marks on the fingerboard and I don't want to have to get the fingerboard resurfaced.

The wear in the fretboard is normal. When you hate the wear, you can consider finishing the fretboard with epoxy. Pastorius did.

You might try Elixer Bass strings. A set came with my BTB600 (not fretless) and the coating is slicker than standard rounds.

Also consider Victor Wooten Signature Strings or Peavey Cirrus Strings.

I use flats on my fretless. I like the feel and sound of them.

Agree w/IBF. Flats on fretless. They will last for ever. IMO they sound better the older and funkier they get. Also like flats on single coil/J-bass configurations for bop, blues or straight jazz. Rounds on my P-bass for funk or rock. They get a bad rap but to my ears there's nothing like a fresh set of Roto's on my P-basses for a rock gig. There as rough as a 10 cent file on a fretless board though.
