In 1969 I bought an Ibanez bass in Sheffield, England which had been brought up from a guitar show in London. Semi-acoustic, like a 335. Reddish sunburst. 2 or 3 pick ups, not sure with on/off switches. Does anyone have any idea what model this could be and have any more info please?}}

Hi Groupcaptain346.

If there's info about your old bass (I'm guessing you don't still have it) anywhere, it'll be here:

http://www.sixties-ibanez.com/

There are scans of many old Ibanez catalogues on there, and with any luck your bass will be included.

Let us know how you get on!

WOW, thanks Jon, I'm pretty sure the bass I'm talking about is the 1915 model which, although it's listed under 'solid bass models' I'm certain it's not solid. Have you any idea where I might look to try to find one of these to buy? Once again, many thanks

Hi Alan - great that you managed to identify your old bass!

Really wish I could help with where to find another - unfortunately it's just going to be down to luck, and being constantly vigilant.

Car boot sales, second-hand/charity shops, classified ads and of course the Evil Ebay are all good places to watch - but don't be surprised if you wind up with an addiction to elderly Japanese guitars & basses and rapidly start running out of room to house them all...

Jon.
