My late uncle passed away and gave me his bass. i wanted to know what kind it was. it looks pretty old but still plays good.

guitarfront

at the back it says D8700085 and the neck seems connected to the body...

guitarback

And the knobs look really old...

guitarheadstock

It seems like a vintage model but i'm concerned it could be a fake... can anyone help me please? thanks

Clear pix of the headstock (where the tuners are) will be much more help in identifying your bass.

oh nevermind... it's a Musician M924.
i saw a much cleaner, prettier version of mine... *sigh* :-(
But this is still a good bass though, right? i love the way it sounds and how easy it is to play.

Pinoybaho:

I'd say it was an '87 MC2924PW, as seen in the '86 catalog:

Man, your uncle gave you a nice neck through bass. I'm guessing $450 to $650, depending upon condition and if there is the original case in nice condition.

Nobody's gonna comment on the strange serial number?

It's an '87 with an early format serial number !!
Should be an F7*****

Either that or it's an '88 with a "D" factory code.

Or somebody screwed the pooch when they marked it...
