Hello,

I am so very excited to finally post on this forum, as I am a proud owner of a Ibanez Musician Fretless MC-900 series bass. It is my first Ibanez, and I am estatic! Particularly, because of how I got it. I am in the Police tribute band FALLOUT: The Police Experience. Since I formed the group I've wanted to get a MC-900 like Sting's. After 4 years of searching for one I find one on EBAY. Sadly, I was just outbid, it got up to $1800.00 and that was WAY more than I could afford. At that point I kind of gave up on the idea of ever owning one. Well, last week my drummer finds one in a Guitar Center in San Diego. I tell him, no way, it can't be THE year, the model, fretless... it was, and I bought it for a mere $399.00!!!!!! It had been sitting there for 4 months without someone buying it! Well, there you have it, there IS a Santa Claus.

Can I get some help identifying it please.

serial number is D814690 ,(I think the first letter is D, might be O)

Also, is there anybody who could give me some tips on the active/EQ section. I have always used passive basses and I don't have a clue how to use it, other than installing the 9 volt battery! Is there a manual out there on this?

Peace

Dave R.

An 81 serial number starting with O is impossible, since there are only 12 months. So December is L.
Your D is from April.

Nice bass, man! With OHSC. Unbelievable: $400.-???!!!

...what is OHSC? Original Hard Shell Case

D = April
81xxxx = 1981

Model #, from what I can tell, looks to be an MC-940DS

The active EQ (smaller knobs) are: Treble, Mid & Bass with (I think) 15 db boost/cut. Center detente should be "flat".

Other controls (larger knobs) are: Master volume, master tone & "boost & cut", whatever that is.

Killer bass & a killer price! Congrats!!!

Oh... btw... nice tunes too!

You're doing Sting WELL!

Am I correct in assuming that you're doing the vocals too?

That's a tough tribute to pull off! ...but it sounds GREAT!

Well... I finally got further into your website (without Netscape crashing... again!) and now I get it.

Great bass & great vocals, Dave!

You guys are awesome! ...but apparently, the Copeland Bros. already told you that.

Rock On!

Again, thank you so much! My MC940-DS is the one of the last pieces of the puzzle. Now if I can get some sort of upright electric bass, I'm finally finished. Thanks for your help.

Dave:

I finally got around to checking out your site and am very impressed with the level that you've been able to take your tribute to the Police! The song files that play when you enter your site are really enjoyable. To have the Copeland family be such fans speaks volumes for how well you guys do your thing!

Do you have any gig plans for NAMM week?

Your "other" performing career(s) seems just a cool. Are you still doing LRP gigs?
