Hi, I'm from Germany nearby Cologne 48 ýears of age and bought me an Ibanez BTB 205 . Playing bass for app. 2 years now and take a teacher now for getting forward. My Bass got the serial number I 050325004, that means Made in Indonesia March 2005 but 25004 means acoustic? And its Colour is in no catalogue a lighter DGF Dump Green Flat like the BTB 200. Ibanez Germany told me it could be a special series maybe from another country. Can anybody tell me about the strange thing in the serial number, colour and what country he was made for? How to put a foto in here? Would be my next step. Thanks a lot and greetings.

Bassdemon:

Sorry that your inquiry slipped by without any response. I did see it and was trying to find info, but I can find anything.

I'd say that the March 2005, Indonesian-made part of the serial number interpretation is correct. I can't say why the remainder of the number doesn't match the Captain's formula. You could ask him in his section.

Where did you buy the guitar? If you bought it new in Germany, and the German distributor doesn't know anything about the guitar, I'm not sure anyone else would.

Bassdemon~ First of all WELCOME!

It seems that Ibanez produces a few instruments outside of their usual marks, or decides to only sell them in certain markets.

Yours might be one of those that slipped through the cracks. Look at it as a 'special edition' if you like.

About a year and a half ago I scored a limited production BTB600E bass that no one has any information on! It drove me a bit over the top when I considered selling it (to get something else of course), but every potential buyer asked for more background on it. No luck with the information or the sale, so it still sits in my home studio...being played and enjoyed regularly.

Try doing a Google Search on the model or check with the Ibanez User Forum for possible info on your cool looking bass. Good luck.

It helps a bit cause the colour didn't match, even to the picture above. It's TYF a colour grey / silver very similar to the grey here. But if you look at my picture, was taken with flash it's more like the DGF Dump Green Flat which was available on the BTB 200 in 2005 2006, maybe a bit lighter. So I got a mix between acoustic / electric and BTB 200 205 colours green and gray very special. But a strange thing is the colour in the new catalogue looks very similar to mine. If you hold this in your own hand not on any web picture. The colour IPF available on both basses looks also different in the new catalogue if you look at the pictures, the 205 is darker.
It's good to play and sounds good. Point.
