I have an ATK 305 bass i have been looking for information on this particular insrtument and have come across some interesting info. All sites i have come across say that the ATK 305 was only offerd in a vintage red finish with a blk pickgaurd. I find this info very interesting beause my peticular ATK 305 has a see through blue finish with a pearl pickgaurd. Can anybody explain this contrast in information or tell me who i can contact that would know about such things i would be much abliged thnx

I don't know if I can help you but I have a similar problem. I have an ATK 305 with the see through vintage red finish with a pearl pickgaurd. Everybody that I've talked to has said that the red finish did not exist. My bass has a very strange truss/nut system. The two are one solid piece of brass inside a 5 piece neck. I'm cluless! can you tell me where you found the info on the finish? I've seen the blue finish on several german websites related to Ibanez basses. I hope that helps. If anybody has heard of this truss system before please let me know!
Thanx, Matty D

Ok guy's relax.

Matty, your one is a Ibanez USA Prestige Model # USATK5 TR trans red. THe neck is a PBC's patented Tension-Free system which replaces the the traditional type truss rod with a steel bar that absorbs all the tension of the strings tuned to pitch, resulting in a fuller tone and sustain.The neck is a 5 piece maple/walnut construction.

Grant this should answer your question.

There were the 2 models, the above mentioned 5 string and a 4 stringer Model ATKUS4.

Both of these models had white mother of pearl pickguards and were available in 3 colours

TB=Transparent Blue
TR=Transparent Red
VB=Vintage Brown

All had Maple Fingerboards and the bodies were made from American Swap Ash.They also had the famous ATK Triple Coil Pickup in them.

The 4 string version used to retail for $2,195.00 and the 5 string was $2,395.00 in Australia and the came with their own special case.
These basses were in production for 1996 only.

Hope this drops the stress level for you.

Captain Ibanez :)
