Hello.

Recently picked up a beat up Musician Bass. It's got these threaded collars on the tuning peg shafts but I'm too clueless to figure out what they do. Do they lock the tuner? How? Anyone know??

Hi,

I have a '79 Musician MC900DS, and it has locking tuners. These adjust the tension ON the tuner, to keep them in place, so the bass stays in tune longer. I can go for weeks without tuning sometimes, and I play 4x a week. :

There was a little tool included with the bass that wraps around the shaft and fits into the small hole in the side of the shaft. The 'working section' of it was basicially a "C" shape, or, since it had a protrusion on one end, maybe more of a "G" shape.

Does that help? Let me know!

Thanks,
