Here is my 1982 AR-105 with the new Jason Lollar P90 pickups I just installed compared to a normal AR-105 (not mine) with Super 58 humbuckers.  Wow, the Lollar P90's sound great!  It's like playing a new guitar.  The way the P90s capture the pick attack, clarity and airy tone is really something.  This is my first attempt at attaching a pic.

Did you have to route it out for the p90's?

If that's so, you should have bought Gibson P94 or Seymour Duncan Phat Cats, all P90 sound in humbucker size. No new routing required.

However the Lollars look nice in this guitar. But I think he should be able to create a Phat Cat model in chrome and in gold. There is enough demand for them.

Yes, there was some routing required.  The depth of the existing pickup routes was OK, but they had to be widened a small amount to either side.  It was a tough choice whether to go with a hybrid P90 with a humbucker form factor that would have installed with no routing or to go with a traditional P90 that requires some routing.  After researching the options I decided to go for the best P90 tone possible and the only way to get that was to go with a traditional P90 from a company with a great reputation like Fralin or Lollar.  I read too many reviews where people said the P90s in a humbucker form factor just don't sound as good as a traditional P90.  I chose Lollar and believe me the results were worth the hassle of routing.  These Lollar P90s are exceptional and Jason Lollar is great to work with.  He sells a half-height neck P90 that can be hard to find elsewhere.  If someone could make a P90 in a humbucker form factor that sounds as good as the traditional P90 that would be a great selling pickup.  But I don't think they are quite there just yet.
