Is it time for more sub group headings in the home page.......90's guitars, 2000 to 2009 guitars etc.....there is a lot that gets grouped together....I'm sure there is scope for Ibanez guitars from 80's 90's and the two thousands.

cheers

These chronological borders are arbitrary and they don't work for a lot of series and models. For instance some  Artstar models were produced until 2001/2002/2003.

The division between "vintage" and "contemporary" was an old division from about 10 years ago. All these axes are 10 years older now.
JohnS kept it that way, because splitting the old postings up is an enormous amount of work.

Model categories are constant. Hollow and semi-hollow is a good example, with newer Chinese models trying to deserve a place between the old Artists and Artstars. It describes the evolution of a certain "family". We compare each new species to what we already know, and if it's not good enough the species dies out, (it is discontinued), or it will be known as "a low end beginner's guitar".

And is a 1985 AM-205 so much different from a 1986 AM-205?
These chronological borders are either useless or they work for 5 years at the most and then the guy who has to clean the mess up is JohnS. We shouldn't want that.

IMO we should observe the history and evolution  of "families" of guitars as if they were animals or plants.
