Caught ASIA last night at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ.  Hanging outside the venue before the show and who do I bump into...Dave G!!!  Freakin' small world.  Anyway, had a great time at the show (the band sounded phenomenal, Steve Howe is playing the beautiful cherryburst Gibson ES Artist he used back in the 80s heyday with the band and he was ripping it up...) and talking all things Ibanez with Dave before the show and during the short intermission.  Great time.

BTW, there is an Ibanez connection with ASIA / John Wetton.  Back in his UK days ('78'-79), he could be seen playing an Ibanez Roadstar bass.  Later on in the late 80's and early 90's, he also played a white Roadstar II and a Black Musician.  I've also seen a couple of pics of him with a PW Musician 924.  Cool

Steve was AMAZING ! What a great venue to see a show (about 2,000 seats vaudville style)....I have not seen Steve play since the infamous livingroom concert at Scott Chinerys place back in the day...He is AWESOME what an incredible mix of styles and imanginative fingerings.......I'm not really an Aisa fan, but the show was quite enjoyable and , of course, seeing a fellow ICW member and getting to talk guitars was just a great bonus.

Wow, I'm feeling left out!  :'(

I love anything connected with Steve Howe. I was into Yes (Close to the Edge and Fragile) long before Pink Floyd and Genesis. How could he have come to NJ and snuck by me?

Dave and Trisound, I'm holding you both personally responsible. Don't let this happen again.

Sorry John.  Defintely will not let this happen again. Cool

From what I heard, YES is touring later this summer / fall (?) and ASIA is going to be touring the US again at the end of the year into 2009.  Apparently Steve Howe is also going to find time to do some of his solo gigs as well.  He's like the Enegizer Bunny.  Go Steve!!
