Good taste Ginger* Where did you see him?
I saw Doyle Dykes here in our small town last year promoting Taylor guitars at a local music store. The guy is insane. I don't get it...how can you be so consistently intricate and yet, flawless? The only mistake I remember is when he suddenly dropped his Taylor D.Dykes signature model guitar while talking. Everyone gasped but he calmly picked it up, started playing, and grinned......a very "Taylor testimonial moment" indeed.

But what a treat...I paid $5.00 to see him up close and the ticket stub was good for $5 off any music store purchase so it was actually free. I also appreciate the Christian family value testimonies and songs he incorporates into his appearances.
But wow, ~ an evening to remember.

It was about the same with me. I met him in Eindhoven, at Eindhoven Musical Instruments, where he demonstrated Taylor guitars and Elixir strings for Benelly the Dutch distributor, while at the very same time Frank Gambale was demonstrating Ibanez guitars at Conijn Muziek.
It was my birthday. I got a set of Elixir strings from the owner of the shop owner. Doyle asked me, whether I played in Church, which I had be doing for a while on the bass, because they had asked me to support the piano player, until our he had to quit in order to maintain peace at home. We were the only two who kept us singing in Church, the rest wanted to leave the Church because of conflicts with the priest. So after that we went totally a capella (SATB) for several years.
As we say "singing in Church is actually praying double", I missed that part and felt sad about it.
Yeah, Doyle is a pretty religious guy and he felt sorry for me.
Anyway, I got this very special thumb plectrum which allows him to play that fast with his thumb. I hope I will find it back. It must be in some jacket or something...
Both shops were taken over by Feedback and they're operating from the Conijn building now.
