Folks have probably seen this before, but just wanted to re-post it.  Nice footage of Rik playing his Artist doubleneck.

Enjoy.

I've been a Triumph fan since the late 70's (the other Canadian trio).
He first introduced me to the existence of the Artist series.

Looks like his doubleneck has Flying Finger S80's in all positions except the 6 string bridge. Would the last one be a V2? Looks like V2 pole pieces in a frame or two.

Now that I look at it, a V2 should have 3 screws. Maybe he took the cover off.

I can't remember if I read it in an interview or if I asked him about it when I met him but I seem to recall that he replaced the 6 string bridge pickup with a Dimarzio Super Distortion.  You can also see in various photos that some of the trisounds were removed and other minor mods were done.

I've always wondered about the color.  In some photos it looks black, which IMHO with gold hardware, would be an absolutely smokin' looking axe.  When I asked Rik about it he said it was the standard AV finish, but it always looked at least like a CW finish to me.  Either way, a great artist and a great Artist... Cool

Great video! I love Rik's playing, and he was one of the reason's I started playing guitar. He is also such a versitile player, and and great jazzer as well! He has done several clinics here in Buffalo, and his home town Toronto... Also featured here at the North American Guitar Festival here in Buffalo. Every year, that is such a great event. Great players from all over the world!!!

The Police have done some dates recently. Maybe this trio will think about it. I would love to see them again.

You can get a hint of the Wine color in the pic I posted below.

Isn't 1983 somewhat early for a wireless guitar connection?

"This is Spinal Tap" makes fun of wireless connections, and it has a date of 1984 on it (www.imdb.com) which means it was being filmed in 1983 and possibly earlier.

Also, while I don't have a clear recollection of seeing him use one, Angus Young of AC/DC used to play his guitar all over the freakin' auditorium (Bon Scott would carry him on his shoulders up and down the aisle) back in 1977-78, and I never saw a guitar chord.

Something to research, I guess.

Edit: Nady Systems introduced the wireless guitar system in 1976. Guitar Player, in 2005, named it one of the top 101 pivitol moments in guitar history.

Here's a thread about a particularly old AC/DC video where we discussed Angus being wireless.

http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/forum/index.php?topic=11463.msg

There was no visible connection anywhere on his guitar, even the output jack was empty. Yet he was definitely playing, spinning on the floor and running even up into the balcony.
