I feel I may need to part ways with this one.  Anyone interested send me a PM.  I have more photos.  Really a fantastic specimen.  100% original.

Jow,

Enjoy it.

I had to pass on it and it turned out I negotiated a sale for my Montage a day or so later and could have bought it.
AM-50's are praised by every post I see about them on ICW. It should be a great guitar for the next 30 years...
Congratulations!

Give us a review when it arrives.

The old saying "He who hesitates has lost..." applies here.   Sad

It's hard to part with.  Glad I could find someone here that wanted it.  Thanks to all that expressed interest!

I'll be happy to review it!  Will probably put .011s on it when it arrives--like those better on Gibson-scale instruments.  Or should I say "Ibanez-scale?"! Smiley

Joe

p.s. How could I misspell my name in the previous post?  I'll blame that on MacSpeech...

Wow!  The AM-50 arrived today and is as advertised--just about mint and very pretty.  It plays great--the neck is comparable to my '80 AS-50, and I like the sound of the Super 58s better than the Lovers that are in the AS-50.  Need to put a fresh set of strings on it--I think I have a set of Elixers here--to get a better sense of how it responds to the kind of playing I want to use it for (a very bad impersonation of early Robben Ford).

LOL There are no bad impersonations, just different interpretations!  Wink

Whatever it is, it's bad!!!  I swear I've been working on "The Imperial Strut," "Monmouth College Fight Song," and "Rush Hour" for years, making little progress...  If I could play like one guy (not that I want to play or sound like anyone) it would be him in the YJ years.

Speaking of Robben Ford, there's one on ebay right now, unplayed! Twenty one bids, $3450 and reserve not met. Seller has 6 transactions but hasn't bought or sold in over a year. Ebay Item Number #170350146218

Improvement starts with recognizing your mistakes. It's a process called "learning".
It's quite the opposite of "showing off", which actually is no process at all, but an exhibition of a status quo. Wink

Tis true.  I know the notes for the songs I mentioned, but it's my picking hand and articulation with my left hand that make me nuts.  Working on sweep picking now, trying to eliminate wasted motion.  Bireli Lagrene is the master of it--absolutely jaw-dropping technique.  Not sure, though, at my age (48) it will get any better--in fact, it's bound to get worse...

BTW, last night I thought the AM-50 was very good, but after having put a set of Elixer .010s on it and letting it sit over night, my assessment has changed: it's a great guitar!
