I have just bought a 2635, which I am very pleased about, 'cos she's a beauty. I had been hoping one would come up and it did, here. So I am grateful to this site. I thought I would mention that along with the guitar I was sent a copy of an American supplement of the era. It has the Artist range including 2617,2618,2619,2618/12,2629, 2630, 2635 and the EQ as well as 2626B.
I've noted that there doesn't appear to be any literature on the 2635, or at least in any full catalogues of the time. So I presume this will be of interest to some others here. I can email the jpegs if you like. I have also mailed them to mongo for his database. The info in them is probably what you already know if you own one but interesting non less.

I'm specifically waiting to know what year the catalog is, so I can put it in the right place on my page.

I resized them at home and I'm stuck at work putting out a technical fire.

I'll see if I can get them posted later tonight.

I updated the main catalog page to include the catalog with the 2635. It's call "Ibanez Presents The Artist"

The original scans were very large in size (10MB each), but they were extremely bright and washed out. I had to tweak the images to get the instruments to show any clear detail. This made the text grainy and the background colors a bit hot on the Orange. But, it's still legible and the instruments look much better.

If anyone here is good with Photoshop, I'll be happy to send you the original scans I received to see if you could improve on them.

The direct link to this catalog is: Ibanez Presents The Artist
I surmised that this catalog belonged in the year 1977.

Nice work Mongo,
I scanned the pictures at the best dpi quality I could to be able to send through my 10mb attachment limit, I still had to resize a little. Perhaps I could have adjusted the brightness. Let me know if you want me to try again with some adjustments, any tips on this would be taken into account.
I think I told Mongo but I notice that I forgot to mention that my copy is a photocopy in my original post, so this may be the main problem, On my copy they are a bit bleached and the guitar bodies are a bit mottled. Looking at the copies on your site Mongo they're not far off what I have.

Ginger, Now they're up on Mongos site do you still want me to send you the jpegs?

I wasn't sure whether the book was 77 or 78. The only thing I remember is someone here thinking that the 2635 was only produced for 2 or 3 years, I've only seen 77 and 78 serials. It would be nice to get a definitive answer to that one. I wonder how many of these models were produced? I presume they were probably numbered as a batch with quite a few other models.

Jonnie,

Rescanning them might be the thing to do if it's not too difficult. What made me consider that, is the difference between the pic you posted in the other thread and the one you sent me. While that pic is not high enough resolution to clearly read the text, the guitars are nice and full and the color is more natural.

I don't think the scans need to be super high dpi, just high enough to be sharp at around 1024 x 768 since I'll need to resize them down for posting anyway.

I don't know if this is a lot of work for you to do. If it is, folks here may think what I have posted is already fine and dandy to leave as is. I figure these will be up from now on and we should take the time to be sure it's sufficient.

I've mailed the owner of the catalogue to see if he's up for doing some hi-res scans, they would be better than my copies.
Maybe he'll chime in or mail me back I'll let you know.
Failing that I'll give the re-scan ago.

Hey Mongo,
I've re-scanned and sent them through to your mail account.
See what you think. Its still only the photo copies I'm afraid.

Hey all,

I was the one who sent the copies of this Ibanez mini catalogue / Artist catalogue supplement which contains the model 2635 to Jonnie when he purchased the guitar from me last month.

I originally bought it from a music store in PA through Ebay around '98/'99 when I first found my 2630 and it inspired me to buy the 2635 when I saw it. I've never seen this catalogue anywhere else and have been proud to own it and now to share it so that we all have the historical documentation on this great guitar.

I agree that it was probably put out in '77, though there's no date on it.

Mongo - I'd be happy to do a high res scan to send to you. Just let me know how many DPI to scan at and in what format. FYI: The photos of the guitars are a bit blown out in the catalogue unfortunately so it's not going get too much better than what you've already seen.

Enjoy all!

Mark,

It never hurts to try. I figure 1024 x whatever should be fine. I'm not sure of the best format to use. We've been using JPG files. I would suggest scanning them in whatever gives you the best result and then we can try converting them to different file types and see what works the best.

My email address is in my profile. I know Gmail will let me get single attachments of up to 20MB, but sometimes it will reject them if the message encoding becomes too large. I would say sending single files of up 18MB should not be a problem.
