I dont know if this auction warrants being called a fraud, but does this newbie seller really think someone is going to fork over $2,750 based on a grainy cell phone picture and no real description of the guitar ? Auctions like this are just puzzling to me....

I've been a member since 2002 I guess and I'm still with 0 feedback.
I bid on a few axes and some pickups in the past, but I didn't win them.
I've been more of an observer than a greedy bidder the last couple of years, although I was tempted a couple of times. Nevertheless, even IF I give in to that temptation, I must win to get a feedback. They can't give feedback for not overbidding the winner.
As I said before, the goal of an auction is the opposite of the goal of a collector:
getting the highest possible price versus acquiring as many valuable objects at the lowest possible price.
Realizing a collector's goal on eBay takes a lot of skill, which you get through experience.
An example of eBay members with this skill within our group of Ibanez collectors is Dave_G. Dave_G uses the medium of eBay very often and successfully because of his skill and experience, and from what he explained he's often not waiting until the official end of the auction, but he manages to get the seller to end the auction early by means of an out of eBay offer the seller cannot refuse. He has bought and sold hundreds of guitars with a 100% positive feedback. When such a guy offers you a reasonable price, you know that you will get your money. He built up a lot of goodwill, which makes him an excellent marketeer/salesman. I wish I had half of his marketing skill.

So, for some of us it IS possible to achieve collector's goals by means of using a medium that has in fact the opposite goals.
I usually buy through other ad websites without exposing my bid. I call or mail the seller and hop in the car.

About the price of this FA100:
I think that the pic of the 2455 in "The Untold Story" with the wrong subscript "L-5 model" make some people think that ES-175 or L-4CES shaped guitars are the often discussed Ibanez L-5 replicas, which they are NOT.
This, combined with the high prices mentioned for the 2460 = L-5CES replica ($2600-2800) may lead to starting bids as high as this one.

What is the value of an FA-100?
With a wet finger up in the air I'd say in the good times $1050-1350.

According to the auction the guys at Gibson went Pete Townshend on all the lawsuit Ibby's.

Our friend also stated that Gibson smashed up all the Ibanez Les Paul guitars as they snook in the factory one night over @ Ibanez ?!

Pete Townshend... NICE!

Ginger - You haven't had the urge to pick up anything else off of Ebay? I think you know I didn't mean anything about that comment... But you see a lot of the fraud auctions with 0 feedback members. Ebay has been for me to get strings when the local store doesn't carry the ones I like...
