It's a '77 - no perloid tuners.  No Pickguard or case.  The coloring is very much like mine.

I've got a GAS problem

He's got a Gassing problem.

He should at least clean up that guitar before listing it.

He'd get higher bids.

South Africa?

I use Paypal to protect myself.

Should anything be wrong with the guitar...it will be a @!## to get a Paypal reversal...not to mention the shipping charges to send it back.

I realize this is a multinational board so mean no offense...but even Canada is a hard sell for me.

I am USA located.

Jazz...

If you follow the seller's instructions for return you eat the shipping both ways...say 150+150=300.

If the guitar is not as described and you file a Paypal complaint...you get back your purchase price plus the original 150 shipping.   And are required to return the guitar at your expense....with signature confirmation.   So the cost would be say...150 then.

From my perspective the risk is not worth it based on the distance and customs problems.   If customs holds it up at his end on the return, Paypal has not deemed it returned and you lose everything.

A lot of buyers will take an overseas risk...so do I...but only as a seller.

Did they just throw random floating bridges on this model?  I'm thinking this one looks all original.  I've  seen other with ebony bridges with little floret inlays (maybe they were 1978's).  Mine has a rosewood bridge and saddle.  This one looks like it has the same bridge as mine, but with a nylon saddle.

I really would like to see this get over the initial bid price.

My bridge dosn't look like this one, but like the other you described.

Depends on how you want the guitar shipped as far as costs right? Is the buyer paying actual cost, or lump sum? You can have this shipped much cheaper, but the time it would take to arrive would be significantly longer. You can pay much for as well.

Good feedback on the seller's end. Something else to consider, as long as he communicates well. Ebay is always a risk, regardless if you are in the States or Not...

But... South Africa???

Now that was funny!

Ace, which did you get? Was it the one mentioned in this thread, or another? I love my 2635... And just had it set up and cleaned up by my guitar guy, plays and sounds as smooth as silk!

I have a newbie arriving on Thursday as well... oh, the anticipation is building!  Wink

Acetan,

I'm excited to see some pics of your 2635, especially the back of the neck.  I'm really glad it went to someone who has the parts to restore it.  And you got a sweet deal!

Removed the pick-guard immediately after the guitar arrived.  It has shrunk about half an inch from the original size already but the erosion on the metal parts isn't too bad at all.  The guitar is in very good shape.  No dings, dents, cracks, paint checks, etc.  The binding, frets, fingerboard, etc. all look good.  It has two SD's on it just like the ones that came with my 2355M a couple of months ago, such coincidence.  The machine heads are Schellers and are fine.  Since there are holes from the originals already, I may leave them on for now.  The Tune-o-matic bridge withh be replaced with an ebony unit when I change the strings to TI flats.  It currently has .11 rounds and sounds pretty nice through my Super Reverb.  All in all, I think I got a very good deal.

Wakuhn1:  It is the one mentioned in this thread.

Seattledan: The back of the neck looks clean. Not like my 2454 at all.

The 81 AR100 was my recent find before the 2635.

Ace, you have a great guitar there. Mine is set up with 1/2 rounds. 11 gauge. What a price, holy cow! Enjoy it man!

Patrick, I just gota nice vintage Howard Roberts model... Beautiful dark finish.

Got it off a whim... I made a bid, but was outbid by someone overseas. So I emailed the seller by chance and said "If anything goes wrong, let me know, I'm interested."
Sure enough about a week later, shipping costs were to high, and he backed out  Smiley
It just goes to show, it never hurts to ask!

Should be here Thursday Smiley I'll take pics...
