 Hi all,

My pickguard must have caught leprosy (Unclean post! Unclean post!) from the post above, because mine has started to disintegrate and needs to be replaced.

Anyone have a new or used-in-decent-shape pickguard for an FA700/L5 copy they'd like to sell?  Does anyone know if Gibson L5 pickguard is an exact fit?

Regards,

Peter

There is a company called Mirabella (631 842 3819) in NY that specialise in repro pickguards, bridges headstock overlays etc. I've seen their work and its first class - they aint cheap though. Any guitar maker should be able to fabricate a reasonably accurate  pickguard replacement. make sure the plastic used is inert otherwise you'll have the same problem somewhere down the line!

Peter,

ALLPARTS makes a tortoise style pickguard with 3 layer binding that will work for your "L5CES" style guitar. The pickguard does not have the pickup cut-outs so you will need to have a guitar tec measure and make the cut-outs for you.  I have the ALLPARTS tortoise guard on several of my guitars and they work great. The "tortoise" material used by ALLPARTS is darker than the material used by Ibanez or Gibson. The pickguard will look great on your FA700.

Also the price of the ALLPARTS Pickguard is somewhere around $70.00.

All the best!
