Hello,

I came across an artcore AK105 model online (not to be confused with the AF105). Does anyone know anything about these and if they're available anywhere in the USA?

Here's a link to the one I found: http://www.musik-schmidt.de/osc-schmidt/catalog/ibanez-ak105-sm-abr-artcore-cst-antique-brown-p-27600.html?language=gb

My local dealer (USA Washington State) has one in stock. I played it and it is sweet. They wanted $1100 for it though.

Wow, love the grain and color! Isn't the price pretty steep though compared to the other Artcores?

Yup, I have seen the blondie... But I prefer the darker wood Smiley
I wonder why the $1,000 price tag if it lists for $900?

If I remember correctly they only had it discounted $100 off MSRP. I think normally most are marked at 20-25% off MSRP. With only 60 of them for the USA market they were thinking they could get a premium. Wait a couple months and if it hasn't moved they will drop the price. My son got his AS103BM from them for $650! Regular AS103's sell new for $730.

Difference between AK100 and AK105.
Different maple, bindings etc

I believe the AK105 lists for between $1150-$1200 dollars. Remember it is an Artcore Custom. 799 Euros = 1100 dollars

Got my AK105 and am loving it!

Here's pics: http://picasaweb.google.com/jazzgeetar/IbanezAK105#

One of the first things I had to do was set it up with new strings. It came with roundwound 9s or 10s and I restrung it with flatwound 12s. It's easy and comfortable to play and sounds sweet! The neck is fantastic, body is beautiful and the wooden (rosewood) around the pickups and volume/tone knobs is a nice touch. I can get a nice, fat jazz tone with it...kinda going for that electric Joe Pass tone.

Jazzgeetar,

Contratulations...nice axe!  I especially like the binding (maple?).  Enjoy your new guitar!
