The bridge pup ring shouldn't have holes for a three-screw adjustment, so it's probably from another Artist, possibly a solid body. Makes me suspicious of the pups in general, but I probably shouldn't be. This is a nice looking guitar and if in general good shape, is worth about what he's asking, give or take. I'd like the pups to be in better shape and that ring to be original, and of course, for it to have its pickguard.

Chuck...

Excellent observations and points.

I am not planning on bidding...a little too rich for my blood.

I had one of these years ago...1980 or so...it was the lesser model...chrome parts and dot inlays.   Wonderful guitar...and sold it in 1985 for $300 Mint Condition.  Cry

Oh well...

Jazz, your right-he doesnt talk much about the guitar except for that its "Mint"- which is NOT- clearly not even close (tarnished hardware/non original pup rings) the pickups are trashed due to the gassing of the missing pickguard-thats not just "tarnish" the plating is totally corroded/rusted off due to the gassing-right down to the thin base metal...I bet those "little or no wear" frets have been re crowned dressed to remove the rust and corrosion that was on them too.....this is a 8.0/10 guitar-nice indeed-but to call it mint is just silly

If I were to buy it..I'm not...I'd use a credit card through Paypal.   That way if you have problems, you can always get your money back using a chargeback.   Assuming the seller is not willing to work with you.

Sounds like he's desperate for money.   Not surprising given these economic times.  If you want it cheaper...send him an email and offer him $1200.   If he accepts use credit card via Paypal to pay.

That way you're protected.

Guys...dont't get me wrong, I have no problem with the condition of that guitar-besides the gassing issue and the effects on the hardware-it looks to be in pretty good shape for an old lady....these are really great guitars and worth every penny the seller is asking ! My comments were more based on using the word "MINT" in that auction without the words "After Dinner" before it........

Jazz...why do you think it will be harder to sell this winter ?

My feeling is that the economy is getting worse not better, at least for the short term, i also feel around xmas time, holidays etc, it is really not the best time for sales in general, i have a feeling this will be a bummer sales year for retail etc, and i also feel $1500 is a tad pricey for  THIS 2630, realistically if we look to previous sales , that guitar should be selling at around $1100. jazzzz

Yea, times are tough and I agree they will get tougher and have a great effect on the low and moderate guitars-buyers are already looking for and getting some great deals-I also think that the QUALITY merchandise will continue to generate interest and sales, abeit at a slower rate-remember, its not like Ibanez is going to make any more Scruggs, Weirs etc.....
