i'm confused. i thought Ibanez Guitars prior to 1975 had no serial number.

on ebay: check serial number picture (H702231)

Ebay Item Number # 130270841851

Using the first 2 numbers as the year made, was this guitar made in August 1970???

H = made by Terada for Hoshino
Made in Feb 1987, Feb is an educated guess / can't be sure, but year is right.
The serial number system you are referring to ended in 1986.

No, but many people think that best GB10s were made in early 80's.

Then there are Korean made GB10s, can't remember years now, that don't have the same quality as Japanese. "Made/Crafted in xxxxx" is on the back of the headstock and/or on the label inside.

Some assert that the very best were made in the late 70s. I don't have enough experience with them all to be so opinionated.

I do know that the GB10 has been a hit guitar among players since it's release in 1977/78. Even the players that had one, but for some reason got rid of it, always remember it fondly.

Amen John,

I am one of those folks. I think the GB10 is one of the most expressive and tonally flexible instruments I have ever owned. Here's a photo of three of my old favorite blondes: an '81 GB10, a '77 Byrdland copy (correct scale) and a Mesa Boogie Maverick.

DO TAKE NOTE on this GB10 (which I think is rather pricey if you ask me), that the binding has some discoloring. I have seen this in the past on a couple of older GB10s... I SUSPECT it is from some serious reaction of the case lining to the plastic of the binding... I include a photo from the ad - see the weird "stripe" down middle of the binding, you see it in many of the photos

That is one of the less than honest sellers on Ebay...and I follow quite a bit of them.

He also did not mention that the inner binding strip on the pickgaurd is missing.

He's the one that sold a badly checked Yamaha AEX1500 to a buyer...at a very high price.   The guitar was returned to the seller, and the buyer negged him.   The guitar was then relisted at a much lower price with all the defects disclosed.

Buceta aka Archtopdreams = Buyer Beware.

Not  to mention also that his prices are skyhigh.... Roll Eyes
