A friend just acquired an Ibanez V300BS in original plush-lined case, Serial No. 86020325T.  I know that it's mahogany, and I believe it was made in the 80s - am I close? We are looking for history and other info as to its value.  Are they selling very well, etc.?  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Nacoma:

The serial number would be consistent with the guitar being made in '86. You could do a Keyword Search (under the Utilities menu, on the left) for V300, in the Acoustic section, to find other messages with tidbits of V300 info.

Here's the information I have about the V300 from the '84-'85 Acoustic catalog. The specs for the '86 model might be slightly different.

Spruce top, not solid
Mahogany back and sides
Black & white binding
Mahogany neck
Rosewood fingerboard
Rosewood bridge with Tru-Tone saddle
Bridge End pins: Ivory with black dots
Chrome covered tuners

There was only Natural finish on the V300 in '84-'85 catalog. There was a TV (Tradtional Violin) finish on the V310. The V310 was the same as the V300 except for the addition of the ornamental inlay on the headstock and black & pearloid binding.

Does your friend's have the ornamental inlay under the Ibanez logo on the headstock?

Johns, thank you so much for the info.  As for the inlay, I'm not remembering just now, but it seems it did.  I have to call them later; I'll let you know.
