1979 FA 100 BS Cataloge Error?

This guitar is listed in the cataloge as birch, however I have seen an Elders 1979 price list that describes it as maple.  Could this have been an error?  It's interesting that it follows birch guitars, however they are semi-hollow bodies and of a different classification.
