"But this goes to ELEVEN."

« on: March 21, 2008, 09:37:20 AM »

Am I mistaken or... has Jim Donahue not responded to any posts here for quite some time?
Like... years?
If that's the case...
what's the sense of having this section?

Maybe "Wax Replica's Of Jim Donahue" answers your question may be a better heading?

Bob,

Jim's profile shows only his activity on ICW since the forum works under the "Simple Machines" software.
http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6163

But shortly before that, he answered some of my questions about "The Untold Story".

So, that was in the 2nd half of 2007.

According to his profile he posted 72 times, possibly 144, because he was registered twice on the same day.

I have no judgement about how Jim spends his time, but I can understand that as a head of a guitar company he needs every minute of his time for his business. I even saw that his Ibanez website was for sale a while ago...

So, he's very occupied and he won't be getting any younger either...

I suggest that we give him a break, one as long as he needs...
and keep in mind that we should honour our "old farts", because they have 1st hand knowledge, while our knowledge is in fact 2nd hand.

Cappy knows a lot too, but the difference is that he chose to retire and because of that he's more available... while JD still has got a company to run. When the moment has come for him to retire also, his ICW room will be intact and his bed spread... just like he's never been away...

So, patience...

These are the last posts of his first account:
http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=6163;sa=showPosts

and these his of his second:
http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1663;sa=showPosts

So, July 27th, 2007 was our last contact.

Perhaps we could send him a short mail to ask if he's in good health...

I am sure he's busy with other things.
It's just a bit strange (I think) that we have such a specific topic area without the main point of the topic, and that would be JIM.

It was incredible when he had more time to visit.
he's like a gold mine. A very special one at that.
Every post he's ever done here is greatly appreciated.
