Hey  CAn you tell me a little about these guitars?  The 3-way switch is on the upper horn-later models had it moved to the lower. How many of these were made and why was the switch moved?  Any other info would be appreciated

thanks for your time

There doesn't seem to be much info out there on these earlier 2630 models. And what is interesting with Juha's catalogue post is that the 2630 shows the quick change bridge (I think Gibralter 2 ) and mine has the earlier bridge which I guess by default is the Gibralter 1. So that is why I've posted here. Please update us if you have some information.
thanks

ibnose....the switch placement on the 2629/30 is one of unexplained mysteries...look at the 1977 catalog, the 2629 has the switch on the upper horn, the 2630 has it on the lower......I believe that it was done both ways

Interesting that the AS200 and the Schofield have the switch closer to the bridge.......

Your tailpiece is original. We've seen them on many earlier Artists, etc. circa 1976. But your bridge is definitely not original. A Gibraltar I bridge is much different, and the Gibraltar II was a modification of the first one, appearing in the mid-1980's.
