 Hi, Jim -
To the best of your knowledge, did Ibanez ever produce any carved-top archtops (solid top)?  Also, who were Tamura and Sugihara?  I have heard lots of conflicting info on these topics, and wondered if you could set the record straight.  Thanks!

The models FA700 and FA300 were Solid carved tops.  the Gibson Copy of the Byrdland. The 2470 was also a carved top. This and the 2460 are so close its hard to tell what one is what.

the GB2K Mask was also a Solid carved top, that is all that I know of.

Jim, Jerry,

Having owned the FA300 my opinion is the top is ply-wood.  The FA300 has a lot of weight, in fact much more weight than my solid top FA800 and 2471.  The 1978 Ibanez catalog states that the FA300 has an ARCHED laminated spruce top.
I have heard that Ibanez made a few L5ces, Byrdlands, and Johnny Smith's with solid tops. All the ones I have had or seen have had ply-wood tops.
