"But this goes to ELEVEN."

« on: November 12, 2008, 02:10:49 PM »

OK, let's just agree it's a rare guitar for the sake of conversation.
Isn't the most important things about a guitar the way it sounds and feels?
Or at least it's potential to perform to it's intended maximum ability?

That said,
Even though this axe is certainly very interesting...
when I think of certain IBZ guitars and I'll use an mc500, just as an example...
I could say ar5000 but... that's too obvious to use to make my point...
even thinking of an mc500 and the potential an mc500 has to deliver...
how could someone pay 413,500 for this guitar?
Rarity?
Is that the answer?
If so...
I don't like it and it rubs me the wrong way.
Why?
No matter what you do to this guitar to make it reach it's greatest potential delivery of sound and playability,
it wouldn't even hold a candle to an mc500 nor will it hold a candle to about 15 IBZ models I can think of in 15 seconds.
IBZ axes that are priced netween $800 and $2000 US.... I'm talking about.

Same as above can virtually applied to all these "relic" axes they're issuing as well.
That EVH relic strat comes to mind.
I would have been embarrassed to release it for sale to the public, let alone buy it as a consumer.
In any event....

Absurd...its a rare bird, no doubt...but its a rare guitar that no one cares about.  He feels that since there are 8 of them , it must be worth a ton of money.

We have seen guitars that are "one of a kind" or very low production numbers-WITH A BRAND THAT HAS A HUGE FOLLOWING-that arent valued that high.

I think this seller is a Dan Armstrong fanatic who is about to find out the Dan Armstrong fans are almost as rare as this guitar !

Certainly interesting...a conversation piece for sure, but 13.5 g's? Deliciously delirious. I dont care what colour they came in, they arent players. Shoot, theres six companies now humping out acrylics, and even some that can be played without fear of embarassment...BC Rich for one. Its nice, but I wouldnt go over 2000 for it, even if there was a certificate of authenticity and a proof of production.
