GW - hey, I know there are just no words to make this right. I hope you can find some small comfort in knowing that I'm deeply saddened to hear of your loss, and that I'm thinking of you and your wife in this very difficult, sad time. As I'm sure anyone who reads this sad news would be. I'm hoping that both of you can find strength and healing through family and friends who comfort both of you. Be well, it takes time.

I'm sorry to hear that, Whisp...
I guess "happens all the time" clichees won't help much.
My late mum had 6 miscarriages in a time they were burried in unholy soil. That made it extra hard to cope with of course.
Only a few years ago the Church recognized this "mistake" and there's a special monument at our Cemetery now for all these unborn and unbaptized babies. It is important that you give it "a place".

Don't avoid the pain but go right through it, cry as much as you need.
Here's one that seems to help:

Take care,

So very sorry to hear of your loss Whisp......Words of condolence seem so inadequate at times like this.....May your familys grief be short, its just not your time ...yet.  Having gone thru this myself many years ago, I can tell you that ....with time...it does get easier....hold on tightly to to your wife, she needs you now......

GW, obviously there are no adequate words to express how sorry I am.

All I can say is, my thoughts are with you and your wife and I hope that this difficult time passes for you both, as quickly as possible and that you see this is an opportunity for you both to count the blessings in life that you already have and use those blessings and the love you share....and move forward in life with your plans to have a baby because the next time around things will turn out wonderfully for you both.
I'm so sorry.

Hey, thanks guys, all of you! We're not going to give up. It's very comforting to know that other people have gone through it and still had other little ones. Apparently, 20% of pregnancies end up as a miscarriage. That's one in five, quite a lot. Thanks for the video, Ginger. We're doing good now. Thanx!

Been away from the scene for a while. Just picked up on your post whisp. Hope things are good for you and the wife now. Your sad loss reminded me of something that I feel should be promulgated.

As it happens, having a baby is swamped in risk. Not only for the baby but also the mother. It's something that Obstetricians rarely highlight unless maybe the mother has a history of specific problems. It's basically a taboo subject mainly because the medical profession have trouble dealing with risk in general.

Anti-natal classes rarely cover risk. In fact, when I raised the subject of mother/embryo/baby risk during one of our sessions I was told that the discussion wasn't appropriate for the class. Bollocks is my response to that.

My friend’s wife had a stroke giving birth. Apparently not uncommon but thankfully not a frequent occurrence but there is a risk there. Those of you who were present at your Childs birth will recall how things settle soon after the actual event. She was left to recover so to speak but suffered a bleed within part of her brain that has left her partially paralysed on the right side and with severe bouts of double vision. She was a healthy young woman before this event and has since, not really been able to mother her child as one would hope to. Totally tragic.

I think everyone who is thinking about having a child or who is approaching surgery with a stay in hospital should get some idea of the risks involved. Make sure you challenge everything you are unsure about. Ask questions and demand an answer.

Also, don't take for granted that private heath care is better than public. Private Hospitals aren’t generally resourced to deal with emergencies. It's really about paying the physicians who work at the public hospital a lot more money when they work at the private hospital. And that is it. To sum that up, you'll pay 10 bucks for a Band-Aid at the private hospital where as in the public hospital.... it's free Shocked

If you're wondering how I know all this...well, in a previous life I was a Risk Manager in a 900 bed public hospital.

This is worth a read.

No, I am NOT joking!
