 Carl:

Regarding the question on the 77 MC 500. What do you mean "has Artist type body"? That it's a double-cutaway? To me, the Musician looks a lot like the Studio. The Walnut/Maple/Walnut sounds like the Musician, but according to the Ibanez Vintage page these only started in '78. What's it say on the truss rod cover?

Got a picture you could upload?

 John
Well I really don't know exactly what this is .
I bought this new in San Rafel Ca. from the guy that was handeling the "Weir" stuff the truss plate says "Artist"
it is thick cast metal and gold plated .
The reason I refer to the MC 500 is that it has the exact same features and the wood is the same , but has the double cutaway equalaterial horns . The neck is 7 section laminated . the nut is bone and brass .
I don't have a pic yet but took some last night so can have in a few days. think this might be a candidate for the gallery . I'm tracking all the "Dead Heads " as Gerry Garcia played one of these at the New Years EVE 1977/78 and someone is bound to have a PIC .

Carl: this is starting to sound interesting. Can't wait til you upload a photo. If you haven't already, read the "Getting Around ICW" link from the menu on the home page. It has all the info needed to get pictures uploaded.

If you have any problems or questions, just write me an email and I'll get everything worked out.

I have three RG 550, two RG 570, and a new RG 520. I plan to buy a new JPM100 next year as well as find an older PGM series. If anyone has any leads on one it would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a '92 Reb Beach Model 1 and a beautiful 1984 Artist AM100. Pics are available at www.magma.ca/~jimid/index.htm   I'm also hot on the trail of an Artist Twin (12 & 6) which I should get my grubby little paws on over the next couple of weeks :-)

I have several interesting Ibanez guitars.
2 '77 Challengers 1 sunburst, 1 sonic blue (custom)
sunburst is all orig. exc. for bridge saddles

sonic blue is resprayed, has Alembic stratoblaster preamp and DiMarzio HS2s in the neck and bridge and an HS1 in the middle, custom wiring for all three pickups or neck and middle pickups simultaneously and for phase reversal with pull-pots to mantain stock look

'76 LP copy, sunburst, all orig.

RG570, turquoise custom paint w/two tone and one vol control

RG470, black, stock

Custom Roadstar w/chrome 'edge' trem and later
Ibanez neck with modern headstock , triangle inlays and 22 frets acquired at a flea market for $40, Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge, Jackson J500 in the neck. Both pickups are tapped with one pull-pot and cancel hum when combined. Cream-colored plastic pickup bezels and switch knob. Amber nonslip knobs.

Prototype, black
One-of-a-kind acquired from Hoshino facility in Bensalem, PA
set neck
carved top
white binding around body, neck, and headstock, volute at headbase
one-off trem w/graphite nut(works flawlessly)
all Ibanez hardware and electronics(IBZUSA pickups H-S-H, cosmo black pickup bezels, maxxas knobs)
beautiful form-fit HSC with purple Ibanez logo and combo lock
This guitar has no logo on the headstock, but it has the 'Made In Japan' and serial number under the clear coat on the back of the headstock.

Hot week for me and Ibanez guitars! I have three new ones to add to my collection:

'92 RG770 DXVM - this is the RG770 with the maple fingerboard and violet metallic finish with matching sharks tooth inlays and headstock. It is GORGEOUS!

'96 TC620 Talman - made in Korea , but WELL MADE in Korea :-) This is the model with the H100 pickups and the ash body. I know the later ones tend toward mediocre at best, but I REALLY like this guitar. It's in olive metallic, and the pickups growl great through a Fender amp (man, I just love Ash as a body wood :-) The chees-oid crushed sparkle plastic pickguard is too cool, too!

'88 Maxxas MX2 - in Black Pearl finish, and by all reports MINT!MINT!MINT! It's coming in from Winnipeg this week, and I can't wait.
