Hey, BC, have you seen Gibson's "Robot Guitar?"  It's a bad/funny name, but it's actually a Les Paul with an automatic tuning system that uses servo motors in the tuning heads.  Pretty cool, though I think the really neat thing is the auto-winding for string changes...

Anyway, for a song I am learning on the acoustic it's still useless.  Tuning for that is ECDGAD.  Go figure.

Chazmo - yes I've seen it but haven't played one. The promo movies/commercials for them were kind of funny. But I don't know if I'd be into getting one even if I had the money to burn. It kinda' seemed cheezy to me. I'd probably rather invest in the Transperformer system that I tried on my student's LP - if I was the kind of player that did lots of special tunings or dropped tunings. I'm mostly not though.

Now that you guys are missing the whole point, let me explain it. A guitar with auto alternate tuning capability is a grand thing, no matter the system as long as it works. But if you don't have a guitar with this capability, it gives you an excuse to buy more guitars! Viva the Robot guitar! I can't afford one, but I can afford three nice ones for half the price for the tunings I use ! Yahoo!

Hey, hurricane,

I'm 99-44/100% sure that the acquisition of a robot guitar is no cure for GAS!! Smiley
