Heh - more like broke!  Cheesy

Very stealthy and impressive. I've used the ninja stealth method more than once myself.

Or my favorite, just use the force. Instead of, "These are not the two droids you're looking for . . ." it's, "These are not new guitars honey, what are you talking about?"

It's best to stick with the truth, that's for sure. Plus, I'm a bad liar. I hadn't mentioned the new 2619 coming my way, but when the wife saw me boxing up the other two guitars, she started asking questions, and said something like, "so, you're just selling these, and we're putting that money in the bank?" and I had to own up that, actually, no, the other guitar was on its way.

Dude, I've got GAS!

Honesty is always the best policy in marriage.
Then there is the old, it's easier to ask for forgiveness then permission.

I've been fortunate to have my wife on my side prior to making a purchase, but we'll see what happens when she sees them all of the time when they up on the wall.

Oh no.  My operation was totally above board last Friday.  I marched it right through the front door chin held high.  She got to go away with the girls and I got a guitar.  She said, "congrats" as she left for a peaceful weekend.  I've just learned I have to "pick my spots".  I saw an opening and rammed right thru it like a tailback.

Hi everyone, I am new here, and thought this would be a decent place for my first message! Well, my wife doesn't quite understand what it is with these guitars, but she has noticed that some of my newer guitars have "left" only to see some nice vintage guitars arrive  Smiley  The nice thing is that her Dad was a musician, and only played Ibanez guitars. He left her a nice blonde 2460?? circa 1977 L-5 copy along with others when he passed. I just compare it to her obsession with the camera euipment she "needs" being a photographer!

So far, things have worked out well. But since I found this site, it hard hard to control that GAS syndrome seeing all the beauties on here!

I'm in the Buffalo, New York area... Looking forward to talking with many of you!

I've never been married, but a few girlfriends have commented on my proclivity towards accumulating axes, & they are no longer around. Hey...women are everywhere, but a really good guitar is hard to find. Present ladyfriend (7 years) thinks it's great, but she is also a musician & we just got her a $3000 Bouffett (?) clarinet...so I'm good for another dozen guitars, at least.

sweet just earned yourself $3000 in future guitars !

My wife is fine with it. After 36 years she has learned to ignore me completely. She did ask how many guitars I needed. I told her just one more.

My wife is a trained soprano who plays acoustic piano as well as viola di gamba.

When we went out piano shopping for her a few years into our marriage I was the one who made
the decisions regarding purchase "that cheap one sounds like pillows over the speakers" and went
with a Yamaha U1 upright which was over six times as expensive as my most expensive guitar at
the time but sounded SO GOOD it was just unbelievable.

She understands.  I have "guitar intuition".  I've been lucky several times to stumble across some
amazing instruments and if I don't get them another chance might not come up with something
that good.  She's bought me more gear than I probably deserve, guitars, mixers, multitrack
recording gear, etc.

When I got that Artist I told her - "I have to pounce now or it will go quick" and since my
birthday was coming up anyway I bought it....

When she got home that night I had it in the case waiting and said "do you want to see it?"

Opened the case with a little flourish and she gasped because it's seriously a beautiful
guitar.  "It's PRETTY!" she announces.

Heh.  No hiding need happen here - she recently was responsible for me getting a 12-string
acoustic that I had no idea was heading my way.  She keeps her eye out for things that might
work for me, heh.

Last year I was in the market for a new Strat and took my wife shopping with me. While I was busy checking out the wall of Strats I felt a tug on my sleeve. It was my wife who promptly walked me over to the Gibson section and pointed out a gorgeous ES137 Custom. Buy that one she said. I did and she was right. I needed that Gibson and just didn't know it.

See, the trick is in picking the right wife. Some choose well, others (as the knight in the 3rd Indiana Jones movie might say) choose "poorly".   Wink

I recently bought my wife a little Fender Frontman 15G practice amp. It wasn't enough for her to commandeer my Washburn acoustic AND my 2675WH. She had to have an amp too.  Wink

And to top it off - she thinks my Scruggs is ugly. She mocks me for buying the Artist 2617 because "it looks just like the other one!" LOL!!

Whatever Honey . . .
