That's a Matsumoku neck plate, so that and the tuners are non-original.

I think there's a longitudinal crack in the back of the neck.
There were no Performer models in 1975, so that's BS.
If I glue a Queen Wilhemina quarter on it, that doesn't mean it's from 1948.

Mike, I was refering to the fact that this is obviously a 1978 guitar ! Just a little bit o 'umor !  The early builds all had the "old School " logos.  I kinda like that look better !

Pardon me for being slow, but I think I have it now:  the neck plate was changed, thus 'pushing' the guitar to a pre-s/n birthday.
