Am looking at buying this bass and had a few questions:

It doesn't have a pre-amp - good or bad? It seems like it has a big enough sound, but I've only used basses that had the 9 v pre-amp.

They want $200 for it. Is this such good quality that the value has only dropped $80 from the original retail (as found on the ibanezrules web site)?

It has flat-wound strings. Although I could buy different ones, what is the general sound quality differences between flat- and round-wound strings since I have used the flat before.

When I adjust the volume on the bass, it makes a scratchy noise in the amp/sound system - how hard is this to fix? Does the whole control need to be replaced or just cleaned or something?

Thanks - Ctwink

The RB630 is basically a Fender P-bass clone. Considering that a Fender Standard (Encinada Mexico built) P-bass is $400, a $200 Roadstar RB630 is a very good deal.

The scratchy pot may just need a shot of tuner cleaner. At worst it may need to be replaced.

Thanks Steve, that makes me feel better. I took it in to have it refurbished (everything cleaned, adjusted, etc) for $50 plus $30 for new strings and I wanted to make sure I wasn't "throwing away" more money.
