Good morning,

is anybody know this Musician bass MC402, model 1980 (C80906) ? I've never heard about it, it seems to be a mix of the Musician serie and the SoundGear. The head is like the head of guitar musician.

Thxs

Labass:

I don't have a catalog to prove it, but from the headstock shape, I'd say this was an '88 bass, not ans '80. The "C" would stand for the Cort factory which would make it Korean made.

but on this picture...you can see that is written that it was crafted in japan...
and the man that sold it to me said that it was hand-built in japan...

i hope that some one have catalog (or just knows which it is) to solve this riddle:)...

Labass:

You are right about the crafted in Japan, sorry I missed that piece of info.

I am positive that headstock shape is NOT from 1980 though.

but there again is serial number...so can anyone read year from serial if it is has to be readen in some other way than i though?

thanx for replay!!!!!

That's not a regular production model. And, hello, a FIVE DIGIT serial number should have set off some alarms. It could have been made anywhere from '88 to '98.

Some interesting features:
Artstar headstock
High-end SoundGear type construction
Saber type jack

This is one for the Captain or JD to sort out.

johns:
i had some doubt about its years before, but then i calm down and become certain that it is from 80...now you came and reborn doubt in me, so i went on investigation on the net:)...
...i find something out...on this bas are regulated lo-z pick-ups...so i went to page and find out that regulated lo-z started to be assembled in 89 or maybe some year earlyer(there are no basses in catalog from 88)
and headstock is same shape as from semi-acustic gutars in 88 and then in 89 on artist guitars...
so it seems that this is not from 80...but i think that according to all that i know now, that it could be from 87 or 88, because in 89 there is no musicians in catalog..but it has, as you said, that specific musicians neck-through...

help!:)

no mater how old it is, it is great bass!
